How to Use This Baseball Offensive Stat Calculator

To use this baseball offensive stat calculator, start by entering a player’s name (this is options but helps personalize the results if printing). Next, fill in the required inputs stats.

You may notice that singles is missing. The reason it is missing is it is automatically calculated by subtracting the doubles, triples and homeruns from hits. So, although you don’t enter singles, they are still used in the calculations.

Once all relevant fields are filled in, click the calculate stats button to generate the results. The calculator instantly processes the inputs and displays the player’s offensive stats in an easy-to-read format.

If some fields are left blank, the tool still runs and uses zero for missing values. A warning appears before calculation if any fields are left empty. The results section appears below the input fields.

Batting Average (BA)

Batting average measures how often a player gets a hit per at-bat. It provides a basic way to assess hitting ability but does not account for walks or power. Formula: H / AB

On-Base Percentage (OBP)

On-base percentage measures how often a player reaches base through hits, walks, and hit-by-pitches. It gives a better view of offensive value than batting average alone but does not factor in slugging. Formula: (H + BB + HBP) / (AB + BB + HBP + SF)

Slugging Percentage (SLG)

Slugging percentage calculates the average number of bases a player earns per at-bat. It reflects power hitting by giving more weight to extra-base hits. Formula: TB / AB

OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging)

OPS combines on-base percentage plus slugging percentage to measure overall offensive ability. OPS gives a broader view of offensive value because it measures not only how frequently a player gets on base, but also how well they drive the baseball. Formula: OBP + SLG

Secondary Average (SECA)

Secondary average tracks a player’s offensive contributions beyond batting average by factoring in extra-base hits, walks, and stolen bases. It highlights power, patience, and baserunning ability. SECA differs from slugging percentage and OPS by adding in the ability to steal bases. Formula: (BB + (TB – H) + (SB – CS)) / AB

Total Bases (TB)

Total bases count the number of bases a player gains from hits. This baseball stat rewards extra-base hits more than singles to show power-hitting ability. Formula: (1B) + (2B * 2) + (3B * 3) + (HR * 4)

Isolated Power (ISO)

Isolated power measures how often a player produces extra-base hits by subtracting batting average from slugging percentage. It isolates power from basic contact hitting. ISO provides a clearer picture of raw power than slugging percentage, which includes singles. Formula: SLG – BA

Total Plate Appearances (PA)

Total plate appearances count every time a player steps up to bat, including walks and hit-by-pitches. This metric serves as a baseline measurement for calculating baseball offensive stats. Formula: AB + BB + HBP + SF

Extra-Base Hits (XBH)

Extra-base hits count the total of doubles, triples, and home runs. It shows how often a player turns a hit into more than just a single. Formula: 2B + 3B + HR

Strikeout Rate (K%)

Strikeout rate calculates the percentage of plate appearances that end in a strikeout. K% helps measure a player’s ability to make contact and avoid wasted at-bats. Formula: (K / PA) * 100

Walk Rate (BB%)

Walk rate calculates the percentage of plate appearances that result in a walk. This stat shows a player’s plate discipline and ability to reach base without hitting. Formula: (BB / PA) * 100

Home Run Rate (HR%)

Home run rate measures how often a player hits a home run per plate appearance. It helps show pure power-hitting ability. Formula: (HR / PA) * 100

Stolen Base Percentage (SB%)

Runs Created (RC)

Power-Speed Number (PSN)
