This batting practice tool is designed intentionally to be very simple to use. No fancy complex software, just an easy tool that a coach or player can quickly pull out to use as a digital spray chart for baseball or softball practice.

How to Use This Batting Practice Tracker Tool

This tool helps players and coaches track where hits land during batting practice. The grid divides into 12 zones, showing left, center, and right for direction and popup, fly ball, line drive, and ground ball for trajectory.

The + button increases the hit count in that quadrant. The button decreases the count if a mistake is made. The percentage at the bottom of each quadrant updates automatically to show the proportion of hits in that zone compared to the total.

***Batted ball rates only use balls hit into fair territory (they do not include foul balls even if they result in outs). Therefore, if you are using this during batting practice, you can choose not to record foul balls (but do as you please). Batted Ball Rate Calculator

In the output area below the zones you will see batted ball rates as you data changes (including comparison of those batted ball rates to current MLB norms). You will also see totals for your hits by zone, and a descending zone % breakdown based on your changing data.

The Reset button clears all data after a confirmation message. A page refresh does not erase data because the tool automatically saves progress. Copy button can be used to send data and the print function allows you to print stat results for record keeping. You can enter name at the top of the tool.

How This Digital Spray Chart Helps

A coach or player can use this online grid batting practice chart to track a hitter’s performance during live batting practice or cage work. You can record where the zone for each hit, categorizing them into left, center, or right while noting whether the ball was a popup, fly ball, line drive, or ground ball.

A coach can use this baseball spray chart to monitor a hitterโ€™s tendencies in real time. Pairing it with video or exit velocity readings provides a clearer picture of swing control. If a player is working on hitting to the opposite field or maintaining balance, the chart helps measure progress.

In the cage, players can track ball flight and direction with each round of swings. Whether working with a tee, front toss, or machine pitching, this chart can provide you a percentage breakdown of where the ball is being hit. It pairs well with launch angle drills or hands-on coaching to help hitters refine their approach.

Players struggling with too many ground balls can check if this free batting chart matches what they feel during a swing. Coaches can compare practice trends to game performance to assess whether training habits translate to competition. With automatic updates to total hits and percentages, itโ€™s easy to spot patterns over time.
